Hypoglycemia or low blood sugar levels is a condition that is very disturbing activity. Here are simple steps that can be your guide in preventing hypoglycemia.
Initially,
hypoglycemia is characterized by symptoms such as fatigue, trembling,
mood changes, insomnia, migraine and headache, pallor, irritability,
nausea and fatigue. These symptoms can usually be relieved by adopting a good diet.
Try to quit smoking
Smoking damages the body's ability to control blood sugar levels. The nicotine content of cigarettes can increase insulin production and decrease production of other hormones known as glucagon. Glucagon is secreted in the liver in response to low blood sugar levels. Glucagon acts stimulating the liver to release glucose that has been stored in the liver as glycogen. If you smoke, your body will adjust the difficulty levels, because it reacts with nicotine.
Balanced diet
Focus your diet by eating foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables,
whole grain cereals, low-fat meat, fat in small quantities and drink
water.
Eat smaller meals more often
This can help you stabilize blood sugar. Try to eat a healthy snack or eat small meals every 3 or 4 hours. That way, your blood sugar levels will not drop too low. No need to worry. Eating 5 or 6 small snacks, compared to 3 big meal will not cause
weight gain throughout the amount of calories you consume unchanged.
Provide snacks
Make sure you have a supply of snacks to eat every few hours. Choose foods that are not high in fat and sugar. Choose fresh or dried fruit, cakes or biscuits made from whole wheat or oat flour is a healthy snack that can be your choice.
Avoid sugary foods on an empty stomach
Blood sugar levels will rise rapidly if you eat sugary foods when the stomach is empty. This
rapid increase causes the body to release excessive amounts of insulin,
which eventually will cause your sugar levels down quickly. Therefore, be sure to eat sugary foods after eating fiber-rich foods (foods rich in vegetables, whole grains or beans). Fiber has the effect of protecting and helping slow the increase in blood sugar levels.
Avoid alcohol on an empty stomach
Alcohol has the same effect as sugary foods. If you want to drink alcohol, make sure after eating foods containing fiber.
Avoid drinks that contain caffeine
Caffeine is found in coffee, tea, and cola-based drinks, and hot chocolate stimulates the pancreas to secrete more insulin. This will exacerbate the sensitivity of sugar and low sugar symptoms.
Maintain a healthy weight
It's important to keep your weight normal, do not go up or down drastically. Strict diet that severely limit the number of calories can actually trigger recurrent hypoglycemia.
Maintain a healthy body and mind. A healthy body and mind a lower risk of hypoglycemia. Try applying the techniques of relaxation and exercise at least 3 times a week.
